“Hoppy’s gift to those who like their beers Malty. Dark Caramel and Chocolate Malts lend their deep crimson silkiness, and judicious additions of Nugget and Cascade hops give just enough bitterness for balance. Ask your server’s favorite beer and it’s probably this one.” 5.6% ABV
Poured from a 22 oz bomber into my nonic. The color is a deep brownish-red. The head is light tan in color, big and frothy, and keeps pretty well. Thick lacing is left throughout.
Sweet caramel malts mixed with floral bitter hops.
Medium-thin bodied with some harsh bitterness going down. The initial flavor is of bitter floral hops mixed with a touch of the sweet caramel malts from the nose. There are much more hops prevalent in the flavor, but the malts try to come out in the aftertaste that lingers on the palate.
Nothing really standout here. The hops prevalent aren’t anything special, and they are the dominant flavor. More of the sweet malts that the brewery claims could really make this a good beer, as they are actually done pretty well. Oh well. 5.5/10
